A trip photo drop where everyone adds quietly and it all unlocks on one day
Asked for by a frequent group traveller on r/SomebodyMakeThis · original source · more from r/SomebodyMakeThis
Group trip photos end up scattered across phones and trickle into the chat for weeks. Friends add photos to a shared trip during the trip, nobody sees the pile, and on a chosen date everything unlocks at once as a shared album. Think of it as a mini reveal party for the memories.

The weekend plan
A rough weekend-sized plan to help you start. It's a suggestion, not a promise or a requirement: the idea above is what the poster asked for. Change anything. About the steward
- Done for one weekend
- A group creates a trip, everyone adds photos through one link without seeing the pile, and on the chosen date the whole set opens as a shared album.
- Suggested shape
- Phone-first web app with a small server and photo storage
- In scope
- Create a trip with a name and an unlock date, and get a link to send to the group.
- Anyone with the link adds photos from their phone, with an optional first name. Before the unlock date they see how many photos the trip has, but no photos.
- Keep photos locked on the server until the unlock date. The server refuses to send them before then, so the surprise doesn't depend on hiding them in the page.
- On the unlock date, everyone with the link sees the album, sorted by when each photo was taken, and can download it.
- Anyone who has the link can add photos and will see the album, so it's only as private as the link. Set a size limit per photo, and remember that photo storage can cost money as it grows.
- Optional, if there's time
- A countdown on the trip page until the reveal.
- Let the trip's creator remove a photo that shouldn't be there.
