A browser extension that makes you restate their point before posting an angry reply
Asked for by a forum user on r/SomebodyMakeThis · original source · more from r/SomebodyMakeThis
When you hit reply on a heated comment, it pauses for a minute and asks you to sum up the other person's view in one sentence. If your version is far from theirs, it shows both side by side before unlocking Post. No scoring or AI rewriting, just a speed bump.
For builders: a suggested starting point

The weekend plan
A rough weekend-sized plan to help you start. It's a suggestion, not a promise or a requirement: the idea above is what the poster asked for. Change anything. About the steward
- Done for one weekend
- On one site, clicking reply opens a short pause that asks you to sum up the other person's point in one sentence, then shows your sentence beside their comment before you can post.
- Suggested shape
- Browser extension
- In scope
- Start with one site you use and detect when someone clicks reply on a comment. Pausing every reply is fine at first; picking out only heated threads can come later.
- Show a calm pause of about a minute with one box: in one sentence, what is their point?
- Show your sentence and their comment side by side, then unlock the post button.
- No scoring and no AI rewriting. Everything runs in the browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
- Optional, if there's time
- Only show the side-by-side when your sentence looks far from their comment, using a simple check that is never shown as a score.
- More sites.
Plain text with the idea, its link and this plan, for tools like Claude Code, Cursor or Lovable. Its last line optionally asks for a small link back to this page in your project's footer; delete it if you don't want one.
